Optical Interconnect

Lasers, modules and photonic circuits moving data inside AI clusters

Heat (est.) Spend (est.)

Optics scale with GPU count faster than anything else, EML and laser supply gates module output, and co-packaged optics is arriving at the same time.

Optical links carry accelerator traffic beyond the reach of short copper connections. The supply chain spans InP materials and lasers, DSPs, transceiver modules, photonic foundries, circuit switches and precision assembly, with major manufacturing clusters across Asia.

Why now

800G deployments and 1.6T ramps are tightening laser and assembly capacity. Nvidia committed $2 billion each to Lumentum and Coherent, while CPO production and 400G-per-lane demonstrations extend the roadmap beyond pluggable modules.

800G & 1.6T transceiver modules

Pluggable modules convert switch and adapter signals to light. Hyperscalers qualify suppliers on optical performance, power, yield and delivery capacity; Chinese manufacturers and US photonics firms anchor the market.
