Desjardins Securities Inc.
Desjardins Capital Markets is the institutional brokerage, investment banking and research arm of Desjardins Group, Canada's largest cooperative financial group, operating through Montreal-based Desjardins Securities Inc. Its equity research focuses on Canadian companies.
Company history
Desjardins Group, founded in 1900 with the Caisse populaire de Lévis, entered the securities business in 1988 by buying into discount broker Disnat. After completing its purchases of Disnat in 1990 and full-service broker Deragon Langlois in 1991, the group's brokerage took the name Desjardins Securities. A US broker-dealer subsidiary, Desjardins Securities International, was incorporated in 2001.
