Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (publ)
SEB Enskilda was the brand of the equities and corporate finance business of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), the Stockholm-based Nordic bank; its equity research, now published under the SEB name, focuses on Nordic companies, including offshore and shipping stocks.
Company history
SEB traces its origins to Stockholms Enskilda Bank, founded by André Oscar Wallenberg in 1856, which merged with Skandinaviska Banken in 1972 to form Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken. In 2000 its investment bank, Enskilda Securities, bought Norwegian broker Orkla Finans for shares, giving Orkla a 22.5% stake that SEB repurchased in 2003. In 2005 SEB merged Enskilda Securities into its Merchant Banking division and rebranded the equities and corporate finance activities SEB Enskilda; its US unit was renamed SEB Securities in 2013.
