ThinkEquity LLC
ThinkEquity is a New York-based boutique investment bank focused on IPOs, follow-on offerings, at-the-market programs and private placements for emerging growth companies. It carries the name of a San Francisco growth-focused research bank that operated from 2001 until its 2012 liquidation.
Company history
Former Merrill Lynch managing directors Michael Moe and Deborah Quazzo founded ThinkEquity in San Francisco in 2001 as a research-centric growth investment bank. London's Panmure Gordon acquired it in 2007 and sold it to management in 2012; that October it closed its trading business, and it filed for Chapter 7 liquidation in November. The name re-emerged in April 2018 as a division of New York broker-dealer Fordham Financial Management, which later took the ThinkEquity name.

Research
Research is headed by Ashok Kumar and covers emerging growth companies across technology, consumer, healthcare, energy and other sectors. Ratings are Buy, Hold or Sell, defined as total return at least 10% above, in line with, or at least 10% below the S&P 500 over 12 months. As of February 2026 every rated stock carried a Buy, and about 85% of those companies had received investment banking services from the firm in the prior 12 months.
