EF Hutton LLC
EF Hutton was a New York boutique investment bank that revived the name of the 1904 brokerage in 2021; a top underwriter of SPAC listings in 2021–2022, it published research centred on healthcare and biotechnology until renaming itself D. Boral Capital in November 2024.
Company history
The original E.F. Hutton & Co., founded in San Francisco in 1904, merged with Shearson Lehman in 1988. In 2021 Kingswood Capital Markets, the investment banking division of Benchmark Investments launched in May 2020, acquired the EF Hutton trademark and rebranded. EF Hutton Holdings bought Benchmark Investments in November 2023 and renamed it EF Hutton LLC. After a 2024 dispute between its partners, former CEO Joseph Rallo kept the trademark and David Boral the broker-dealer, renamed D. Boral Capital on 8 November 2024.

Research centred on healthcare and biotechnology, expanded in 2022 with four hires from ROTH Capital Partners and in July 2024 with a new head of healthcare research and an analyst for technology, transportation and industrials. Ratings were Buy, Hold and Sell, defined by 12-month total return relative to the S&P 500, with Buy and Sell requiring at least 10 points of out- or underperformance; in December 2023, 34 of 35 rated companies carried Buy.
