Company history

The firm traces to Jones & Associates, an institutional agency broker that George E. Jones Jr. founded in Santa Monica in 1975. His son William "Packy" Jones became executive chairman and CEO in January 2004, when the firm was reorganized under the JonesTrading Institutional Services name. It later added investment banking and, from 2018, sector-specific equity research; Alan Hill, who joined as CFO in 2006, has been CEO since 2014.
