Brookdale Senior Living Inc.BKD
Health Care

Operates U.S. independent living, assisted living, memory care, and continuing care communities, generating revenue mainly from private-pay resident fees and smaller third-party management fees. Assisted living and memory care are the largest segment within a portfolio of owned, leased, and managed properties.

Operates independent living, assisted living, memory care, and continuing care retirement communities across much of the United States. The portfolio spans 541 communities, most owned and the rest leased or managed for property owners. Many locations combine service levels so residents can receive more support as their needs change.

Generates revenue chiefly from monthly resident fees paid privately; a smaller management business collects fees for operating third-party communities. Assisted living and memory care form the largest segment. A national support platform centralizes procurement, training, marketing, clinical programs, and emergency response while regional teams manage local occupancy, pricing, staffing, and care.

Results depend on occupancy, residents' ability to pay, workforce availability and retention, and ownership and lease economics. Care delivery and community operations are governed by state and local licensing, staffing, safety, resident-rights, privacy, and employment rules.
