Stepan CompanySCL
Materials

Supplies specialty and intermediate chemicals used in cleaning, disinfection, insulation, coatings, food, nutrition, and pharmaceutical applications. Surfactants are the core line, supported by polymer chemistries and a smaller regulated specialty-products business.

Produces specialty and intermediate chemicals sold to other manufacturers across three reportable segments: Surfactants, Polymers, and Specialty Products. Surfactants are used in cleaning, disinfection, personal care, agriculture, latex systems, plastics, and composites; Polymers include polyurethane polyols, polyester resins, and phthalic anhydride for insulation, CASE materials, resins, plasticizers, construction, automotive, and marine uses.

Operates production facilities across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, with recent actions aimed at consolidating volume into more efficient assets. The portfolio is most exposed to surfactants, with polymers as the second major line and specialty products serving food, flavoring, nutrition, and pharmaceutical applications.

Execution depends on chemical-manufacturing safety, raw-material and energy costs, transportation networks, environmental obligations, and regulated specialty inputs.
