Canaccord Genuity is the global capital markets division of Canaccord Genuity Group Inc., a Vancouver-headquartered, Toronto-listed independent investment dealer. Its research emphasizes growth companies in technology, healthcare, sustainability, consumer and mining, published from Canada, the US, the UK and Australia.
Company history
The business originated in 1950 as a small regional broker-dealer, renamed Hemsworth, Turton & Co. in 1968. As Canaccord Capital it listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 2004 and became Canaccord Financial in 2009. The 2010 purchase of Genuity Capital Markets gave its capital markets arm the Canaccord Genuity name; UK broker Collins Stewart Hawkpoint followed in 2012, and the group adopted its current name in 2013. It sold its US wholesale market-making business to Cantor in November 2025.
