Raymond James is the brokerage and capital markets franchise of Raymond James Financial, a diversified financial services firm in St. Petersburg, Florida. Its equity research, published by Raymond James & Associates and Canada's Raymond James Ltd., focuses on small- and mid-cap companies.
Company history
Bob James founded Robert A. James Investments in St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1962; a 1964 deal with Edward Raymond's Raymond and Associates created Raymond James & Associates. The equity research department began operating in 1972, and Raymond James Financial went public in 1983. The 2001 purchase of Goepel McDermid created Canadian affiliate Raymond James Ltd., and the 2012 acquisition of Morgan Keegan expanded its capital markets business. Paul Shoukry became chief executive in February 2025.
