B. Riley Securities is a Los Angeles-based investment bank serving small-cap and middle-market companies and the capital markets arm of BRC Group Holdings, formerly B. Riley Financial. It is known for small- and mid-cap equity research, including a value-oriented Discovery Group that targets under-followed companies.
Company history
Bryant Riley founded B. Riley & Co. in Los Angeles in 1997; it merged with Great American Group in 2014 to form B. Riley Financial. After acquiring FBR & Co. in June 2017, the firm combined the two broker-dealers as B. Riley FBR, renamed B. Riley Securities in 2020. The parent became BRC Group Holdings on January 1, 2026, and in April 2026 announced plans to buy out the roughly 8% minority stake and merge the firm with B. Riley Wealth.
