Ladenburg Thalmann is a New York middle-market investment bank and broker-dealer owned by wealth manager Osaic. Founded in 1876, it runs investment banking, sales and trading, asset management and equity research focused on small- and mid-cap issuers.
Company history
Adolph Ladenburg and Ernst Thalmann founded the firm in New York in 1876, and it bought a New York Stock Exchange seat in 1879. In 2001 GBI Capital Management acquired it and renamed itself Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services, which later built a large independent-advisor network, including Securities America in 2011. Advisor Group acquired the company in February 2020 for about $1.3 billion and renamed itself Osaic in 2023.
