Evercore ISI is the equities arm of New York investment bank Evercore Inc., pairing macro, policy and fundamental research with institutional sales and agency trading. It ranked No. 1 on a weighted basis in Extel (formerly Institutional Investor) All-America Research surveys from 2022 to 2025.
Company history
Economists Ed Hyman and Nancy Lazar founded International Strategy & Investment (ISI) in 1991. Evercore, founded by Roger Altman in 1995, began U.S. institutional equities operations in June 2010. In October 2014 Evercore acquired ISI's operating businesses and the roughly 40% of its equities unit it did not already own, combining them as Evercore ISI with Hyman as chairman. It operates alongside Evercore's advisory investment banking business.

Research
At the 2014 combination the platform covered about 620 companies across 12 industries; in 2025 its sales team served more than 1,200 institutional clients. Economics, Washington policy and technical analysis teams complement fundamental coverage of health care, technology, financials, industrials, consumer, energy and real estate. In the 2025 Extel survey 44 analysts were ranked, 14 at No. 1. Stocks are rated Outperform, In Line or Underperform against the expected 12-month total return of the analyst's coverage sector.
