Company history

Eric Beder founded Small Cap Consumer Research in December 2017 and launched it publicly in June 2018, presenting company-sponsored coverage as a response to MiFID II's unbundling of research payments, which he expected to shrink small and mid-cap sell-side coverage. Beder had previously covered retail and apparel stocks at Brean Murray, Carret & Co. from 2005 to 2014, Wunderlich Securities from 2014 to 2017 and briefly at B. Riley FBR after it acquired Wunderlich.

Research

Coverage is paid for by the covered issuers and focuses on consumer companies with equity market capitalizations under $4 billion. The firm retains editorial discretion, receives no non-public information and does not own or trade covered stocks. Reports carrying Buy or Hold ratings, price targets and estimates reach institutional investors through FactSet, BlueMatrix and other aggregators. Beder is a three-time winner of The Wall Street Journal's Best on the Street honors.
