Barrington Research Associates is a privately held Chicago investment bank and broker-dealer providing equity research, institutional sales and trading and investment banking. Its research focuses on small- and mid-sized, underfollowed companies in consumer and business services, healthcare, industrials, and media and technology.
Company history
Economist Alexander P. Paris founded Barrington Research in Chicago in 1983 as an economic and investment research boutique; it later added institutional brokerage, investment banking and asset management. After the founder died in 2013, his son Alexander Paris Jr., with the firm since the late 1980s and its education and business services analyst, was promoted to president in 2014. The Paris family controls the firm.
